Frozen Fever, Let It Go

Here I am, ended up writing about this one song that kept repeating playing in my head. Not because I really really like the song or repeatedly listened to this song through my earphone. But only because almost all my student are very attached to the film, FROZEN which cause them to repeatedly told me the story about Elsa and Anna also sang the famous original soundtrack, “Let It Go.”

Let It Go by Idina Menzel * I prefer her version than Demi Lovato version, sorry, no hurt feeling here *

During their play, they pretended as Ana or Elsa. During our conversation, they talked about Anna and Elsa. When painting, they painted Anna and Elsa. They drew Anna and Elsa. They made Olaf the snowman with the play dough and ended up told story about Anna and Elsa and the Snowman, well basically about Frozen. They made 3D art, such as castle or dress for Anna and Elsa.

And last but not least, they sang part of the “Let It Go” song, started by hummed the song, sang part of it while playing, sang the song on their-hand-made-stage, and sang almost the whole part of the song out loud with, off course, the movement Elsa shown while singing the song. And could you believe me,  it happened almost everyday since they watch Frozen in movie theater. So, I might said, they are really into Frozen fever.

Here is a video that really reminds me of my student while they sang this song. Yup, almost same just like this. So imagine you heard them singing like this each and everyday. As cutie as pie… cutest ever…

So, as their teacher, how can I don’t know about the song? How can’t I sang the song with them? How can I support and scaffold them if I don’t know about the song or the movie itself? From the moment one of them nicely said to me, “Miss, that is frozen song. Why you don’t know miss. I know the song.” Right at that moment, felt like a big stone bump into my head * too much reading manga and watching anime I guess, a little bit overreact then * I felt very challenged. I promised myself to dig all about Frozen. So, then I engaged with my computer and diligently ask uncle google and youtube 8 thanks God they are available in this era *

The very next day, I showed them that I finally catch them up with this Frozen things. I asked them about the story, how they recall the story. How they characterized the cast. How they recognize their character, starts from the size, gender, details on their dress, etc. Now, they even more eagerly to talk about it since they felt that their teacher finally understand what they are talking about. Furthermore, we sang along together * the “Let it Go” song * which trigger them to sang it even out loud.

Connie Talbot – Let It Go * really love this Cover version, actually, I always love Connie Talbot *

Here is the lyrics, Let us sang together…

The snow glows white on the mountain tonight
Not a footprint to be seen
A kingdom of isolation,
And it looks like I’m the Queen.

The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside
Couldn’t keep it in, heaven knows I tried

Don’t let them in, don’t let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know
Well, now they know

Let it go, let it go
Can’t hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door

I don’t care
What they’re going to say
Let the storm rage on,
The cold never bothered me anyway

It’s funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me
Can’t get to me at all

It’s time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me
I’m free

Let it go, let it go
I am one with the wind and sky
Let it go, let it go
You’ll never see me cry

Here I stand
And here I’ll stay
Let the storm rage on

My power flurries through the air into the ground
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I’m never going back,
The past is in the past

Let it go, let it go
When I’ll rise like the break of dawn
Let it go, let it go
That perfect girl is gone

Here I stand
In the light of day
Let the storm rage on,
The cold never bothered me anyway

And, through my research, I found other version of the song which is quite good and would love to share * wait, in the beginning of this writing, I think I said, I not really really like the song? hmmm… then why do I listened all these version, hmmm… *

Calm Down, Deep Breaths

Details in Fabrics by Jason Mraz feat. James Morisson.

It is a shame that I just got hold to this song recently, eventhough I am a fan of Jason Mraz and James Morisson. I would not even know this song if it’s not from the Heirs ost * Kdrama played by Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye * episode 17. Since that time I heard it, it catch my heart.

At first I though how encouraging this song is, for me. But then I youtube-ing to find the song and here I am become more encouraging than ever.

The song perfectly suits Tan (Lee Min Ho character in The Heirs) situation at that time * and maybe Won, Tan’s brother, too * and the way that it played as background music and stops when Won got a phone call from Tan who is in the Police station * as he breaking himself down after losing Eun Sang * is really matched well. As if the song told them both to get  a hold of themselves together, to hang on and face the reality in a good way.

As if the song told Won to keep strong until he reach his goal * to get the highest place in the world  and told Tan to comeback to his old self rather than being out of control cause of anger, loneliness, depression, and breaking heart of losing his loved one * Eun Sang played by Park Shin Hye   The song told Tan that the reasoning behind all of it is not his fault, so there is no reason to get all build up about something that was uncontrollable, beyond his control.

So, take things as they come and make best of what is dealt to you. Just like Tan always said * and I believe it became the message of this drama * “Go Forward, whatever happened.” And it is so true, because the least thing we can do after something bad happened is keep moving forward and live on.

So, in my point of view, after listen to this song for all this time is for us to see things as a whole not just as details. No need to sweat the small stuff for it can easily turn into huge stuff. That everything is definitely happened for a reason, even though sometimes we don’t know the reason for, yet. So all we have to do is, to think calm, get a hold of our self, and moving forward. Because in the end, everything will be alright. Put your believe in it. As I do.

So, here is the song, the one that i keep rambling about in above

Hey, what’s up? Uhh, I just lost it. At the end of the day, I f***ing lost it. I just blew up my whole entire f***ing apartment building. I told everyone to go f**k themselves. I just had a hard time today and uh, I don’t know.

Calm down
Deep breaths
And get yourself dressed instead
Of running around
And pulling all your threads and
Breaking yourself up

If it’s a broken part, replace it
If it’s a broken arm then brace it
If it’s a broken heart then face it

And hold your own
Know your name
And go your own way
Hold your own
Know your name
And go your own way
And everything will be fine

Hang on
Help is on the way
And stay strong
I’m doing everything

Hold your own
Know your name
And go your own way

Hold your own
Know your name
And go your own way

And everything
Everything will be fine
Everything

Are the details in the fabric
Are the things that make you panic
Are your thoughts results of static cling?

Are the things that make you blow
Hell, no reason, go on and scream
If you’re shocked it’s just the fault
Of faulty manufacturing

Everything will be fine
Everything in no time at all
Everything

(Hold your own, know your name)
Are the details in the fabric
Are the things that make you panic
Are your thoughts results of static cling?
(Go your own way)

Are the details in the fabric
(Hold your own, know your name)
Are the things that make you panic
(Go your own way)
Is it Mother Nature’s sewing machine?

Are the things that make you blow
(Hold your own, know your name)
Hell no reason go on and scream
If you’re shocked it’s just the fault
(Go your own way)
Of faulty manufacturing

Everything will be fine
Everything in no time at all
Hearts will hold

new message:

Yo what’s up man? I, uh, i don’t know man. I just wanted to say that, uh, you know, everything’s made up. I mean everything’s, everything will always be f***ed. Can’t stop being f**k, but i guess we just deal with it how it comes, deal with the humps, take the jumps. I feel like, you’re an island of reality in an ocean of diarrhea and I love you buddy. OK. bye.

Everyone is My Teacher

quote

This quote, I first recognize it from @climbingbird instagram. And it is very true. This is how I feel. That I learn from anywhere, anytime, and any teacher. Not just from teacher I met at school, but everyone surround me. Whether I met them in person, observe from a far, or just know them online in digital world. So, then I bow deeply in gratitude for all of my teachers.

Looking for a Reason to Wear Hijab

Are you still looking for a reason, why are you wearing hijab? or Why I have to wear Hijab? Here is one of the most amazing answer of that very question. It came from a Nobel Prize Winner, Tawakkol Karman.

When Tawakkol Karman asked about her hijab by journalist, and how it is not proportionate with her level of intellect and education, she replied:

“Man in the early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved, he started  wearing clothes. What I am today, and what I am wearing represent the highest level of thought and civilization that man as achieved, and is not regressive. It is the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times.”

Bang! her answer of the question is really open up my mind, something that I haven’t think of. It is not just a simple answer like we all always did. Such as, I;m weaing hijab because it is a must in our religion. Or because God told us to do so. Or else.

Her answer is really represent her knowledge and intellectuality. How I admire her and respect her for it. Made us, women with hijab, also be more proud of wearing it. It gave us another reason to stay istiqomah in what we already choose and did.

For your info, Tawakkol Karman born in February 7, 1979, in Ta’izz, Yemen. She got the nobel prize in year of 2011 for her non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation in peace-building work.

Be Brave by Agnez Mo

be braveeeee……!!!!!” * me, singing, actually more like screaming, failed imitating Agnez Mo *  This is not even the end of the week, but I’m pretty sure this amazing song from Agnez Mo (or known here in Indonesia as Agnes Monica) will be my soundtrack of the week. Ok, more than a week, I think everytime I felt that I need to be brave for some things in life. The motivational and inspiring lyric add with Agnez Voice is PERFECT.

I’m not her fangirl, but I do respect and adore her music. She put 1000% effort into her music. She keeps learning and learning to become better (such as, took a vocal lesson during her childhood, dance practice and so on). And trust me, she is getting much better.

Fist time I recognized her as a great singe was years agooo, when she sang ‘I turn to you” * originally sung by Christina Aguilera * live in some TV Show. And I was like, OMG, She is not bad * well, at that time, I am fangirling Christina Aguilera. And I haven’t heard someone cover her song as good as Agnes did. Consider her very young age at the time * Then, I start keeping my eyes on her. And I haven’t been dissapointed, yet.

Back to the song, be brave. It gave me fuel to be brave. Just read the lyrics below. See how it could shine your life and others around you.

BE BRAVE

Stand
For the silence and the broken ones
For the families who have lost someone
You have a voice

Stand
Out from the shadows unveil who you are
Light the candle and don’t fear the dark
No matter how small
When you’ve got the call

Be brave
Shine all your light
Where is your fight

Be brave
Turn on your light
You got to fight
Ule iye iye ee
Ule iye iye ee
Be brave
Be brave
Yeah….

Tonight
We celebrate our love for you
Cause you’ve given us so much of you
For every single sacrifice
You have paid the price

And where…
wherever you may go
I know that you can make it so
Don’t give up the fight
Don’t turn out the light

Be brave
Shine all your light
Where is your fight

Be brave
Turn on your light
You got to fight
Ule iye iye ee
Ule iye iye ee
Be brave
Be brave
You know you”ll be brave

We are one
We are love
Let our strength unite us
And not divide us
Let’s stand as one

Be brave
Shine all your light
Where is your fight

Be brave
Turn on your light
You got to fight
Ule iye iye ee
Ule iye iye ee
Be brave
Be brave
