This is one of many love poems by Jalaludin Rumi. I love this one a lot, for this describing ‘love’ as something reckless. You don’t need reasons to love someone or to be loved by one. Because Love is reckless, not reason.
What will happened with your love if the reason for loving someone already gone. Will you stop loving them or will you love them even more…
Love is reckless; not reason.
Reason seeks a profit.
Love comes on strong,
consuming herself, unabashed.
Yet, in the midst of suffering,
Love proceeds like a millstone,
hard surfaced and straightforward.
Having died of self-interest,
she risks everything and asks for nothing.
Love gambles away every gift God bestows.
Without cause God gave us Being;
without cause, give it back again.
